Facts You Should Know
Ground transportation is provided to you for airport arrivals, departures, and your daily round trips to the harbor. Remember to look for our sign Reel Affair when disembarking the plane in Sitka. I arrive to the airport 25 to 30 minutes prior to a flight arrival and park literally feet from the terminal door. I must stay with the vehicle, please feel free come outside, say hello & then return for your 'carry on' luggage IF you checked it through with your carrier.
Your room is equipped with a microwave, a flat screen TV & and a mini fridge. There are also hair driers, and coffee. & two double beds, many of the rooms offer a beautiful moving view of Sitka Channel – however they are limited, and given on a first come first serve basis – It’s the only fair way I can do it.
I always take my folks to the store(s) for items they want for either the boat or their room on their arrival day. I will also take you in the afternoon after you arrive home from fishing if you like. If you want to stretch your legs the place I take you to is with-in simple walking distance & it’s a nice place – it’ll have everything you need & want. (That’s my kind of shopping)
I Tell folks – what you wear on your flight to Sitka, plan on wearing home. After we spend time together on you arrival day hang those clothing items up, keeping them neat & clean for your flight home. Sitka is a relaxed fishing community. You can go to our finest restaurant in your clean fishing clothes and you’ll be served proudly.
RAIN GEAR & BOOTS:
Yes we supply rain gear & boots. The rain gear is lined, warm & comfortable. It is in two parts, bibs & a jacket. We have a myriad of sizes available. However for that custom fit; feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
On arrival you’ll be given a list of all the better restaurants, their addresses, their phone numbers. The list will include what they feature. I will also supply you with their menus. I am always happy to make any reservations with the best seating available at the chosen restaurant if you like – or you may make your own reservations. Some of the restaurants provide free transportation – again no need to play “dress up” for any of the restaurants.
Keep it simple – what fits in your carry-on luggage is perfect. Bring layered clothing. The mornings are cool while the afternoons can warm right up. You want the luxury of adding a layer or removing a layer as needed. The boat cabins are heated & enclosed.
Ideas to consider:
- Fingerless gloves are nice
- Boot socks are really really nice!! They keep the boots from rubbing your shins.
- Something to cover your ears in the morning is also nice to have
Remember the rain gear (the bibs) will also aide in keeping your fishing clothes clean – so again, no need to pack a lot of ‘stuff’.
AMENITIES ON BOARD:
You’ll have a captain & deckhand, so you will have the same crew each day of your trip. Reserving your dates early is the key. If for some reason you will fish on two different boats with a different crew of ours over the course of your trip I will tell you this when you are booking your reservation.
Full Lunches, condiments, pop, water, coffee, fresh water ice, private enclosed head (bathroom) Bait, gear, tackle & terminal tackle.
- Alcohol – Absolutely Fine to bring – we ask that it be in a can – It’s a safety issue.
- Smoking – The Cabins are smoke free – you are welcome to smoke outside on the back deck.
